Job Description

• The Conversationalist is looking for a videographer located in New York City to produce, film, and edit our brand’s content. This includes, but is not limited to, the live filming of segments for Gen Z talk show “POVz” which takes place at our studio in Union Square, “on the streets” of New York City, and at events and venues around the country. Working alongside our host Sophie Beren and The Conversationalist team, this individual will be involved in the creative and day-to-day production of POVz, including the editing of footage, captured by you and Sophie, as well as our network of campus correspondents across the country. As our videographer, you will help shepherd the production of our show from start to finish and take our brand to new heights.
• Our ideal candidate has a zest for bringing people together. You maintain your own video and audio recording equipment, you have experience editing and using video editing software, you understand Gen Z marketing trends and are aware of how to create content for our generation, you can work swiftly and turn around content on a short timeline, you can analyze performance results, you embrace revisions and constructive feedback, you go above and beyond to elevate our brand and bring our mission to life, and you enjoy presenting a complete, polished project on deadline. Since we commonly debut these videos on social media, it is important that the product is compatible with each platform and that you hold knowledge about how to cut content accordingly so it will perform best for each platform (TikTok, Instagram & YouTube). You are focused on creating the best possible product to elevate young voices, break echo chambers, and unify the world.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the Host of POVz to bring the show to life
• Work directly with the Head of Production to see the content from start to finish
• Record video using professional equipment in a studio and on the streets
• Conduct post-production video editing
• Set-up lighting and audio equipment
• Maintain equipment
• Give creative input and bring new ideas to the table
• Willing to travel with Host to different cities around the US to capture footage on an occasional basis

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of experience using professional recording equipment
• Knowledge of video editing software, including Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects
• Manage video projects from concept through production to final delivery
• Writing, producing, and new media background and familiarity with various video platforms - TikTok, IG Reels, YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, Snapchat, etc
• Strong production, project management, and communication skills, and the ability to juggle multiple projects
• Ability to work independently and on a team, and to stay within budget
• A passion for our mission, what we stand for, and the work we are doing

What To Expect

• Intake Round: Submit an application for the Videographer position
• Round 1: If chosen to move forward, 30-minute interviews with TC executives
• Round 2: Interview with TC’s CEO and Host of POVz, Sophie Beren
• Round 3: Join TC for a trial period project to determine if the role is a mutual fit
  • Project will include a professional shoot and a typical edit paid at a standard industry rate
• Round 4: If the role is a mutual fit, receive an expanded position with TC as our Videographer
